Golden vineyards, cosy rainy days, and creative afternoons with the family: autumn Merano and Environs is made for switching off.
Slow down this autumn: how to find your calm in Merano and Environs
The trees shed their leaves, animals stock up for winter, and the mountain pastures fall silent. Nature shows us how it’s done: in autumn, the world slows down and gathers strength for the cold months ahead. So why not do the same? A
walk through golden vineyards, a cup of tea in your holiday accommodation, or an afternoon of crafting with the children: here’s how to find some calm this autumn in Merano and Environs.
Through vineyards and orchards
Deep breaths, a steady pace, sweeping views: a walk through the autumn landscape around Merano is enough to settle the body all on its own. A lovely example is the
“Bacchus & Pomina” wine and apple trail in Schenna. Below the village, the wine trail winds for around six kilometres past more than 20 information points dedicated to winegrowing. Above Schenna, along the apple trail’s four-odd kilometres, you’ll find beehives and apple-themed sound installations. In between,
wineries and farm shops invite you to stop for a break. Take your time and enjoy the view over Schenna Castle and Merano.
A bright side to rainy days
Rain patters against the window, wind rustles through the trees, but there’s still a bright side to look forward to. When autumn weather turns moody, you can get cosy in one of the
südtirol hosts accommodations: a cup of tea in hand, snug socks on your feet, and a good book on your lap. Or perhaps a
board game with the whole family? Sometimes a rainy day is the best excuse to switch off and do absolutely nothing.
Autumn with a creative touch
Autumn is also a wonderful time for families to ease off the pace. Whatever you’ve gathered on your walk becomes craft material back at the dining table:
chestnuts turn into little figures, leaves into colourful collages. Suddenly, everything goes quiet as everyone cuts, glues, and tinkers away, deep in concentration. Autumn brings plenty of lovely occasions for getting creative: pumpkins are carved at Halloween, and on
St Martin’s Day, lanterns are made for young and old to carry through the villages.
