Where little explorers experience big adventures
Gentle Alpine meadows, safe paths, and
themed hikes specially designed for children: in the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal valley, a love of hiking is kindled even in the youngest children. Whether you’re gaining altitude with a pushchair or conquering the mountains with independent explorers – right on the doorstep of your südtirol-hosts accommodation, there are numerous child-friendly routes leading through the region’s most beautiful landscapes. And when young and old alike need a break, mountain huts with
family-friendly menus, playgrounds, and sometimes even petting zoos invite you to stop for refreshments.
With prams, baby carriers, and little mountain enthusiasts
Even the youngest children marvel at the surrounding mountain scenery with wide-eyed wonder, snuggled up comfortably in their baby carriers or prams. The trail to the
Tuffalm mountain hut near Völs am Schlern is particularly well-suited for a family walk with a pram. This pushchair-friendly Alpine hike, just under two kilometres long, leads from the car park at Lake Fiè/Völser Weiher through the Sciliar/Schlern-Catinaccio/Rosengarten Nature Park up to the Tuffalm hut. Whilst parents enjoy the view at the top, children can have fun at the petting zoo or let off steam on the playground. For slightly longer excursions, the
circular walk on the Alpe di Villandro/Villanderer Alm is ideal. With a pram, you can stroll from hut to hut in around two hours, passing a small zoo, a children’s playground, and a fairy-tale forest.
On a discovery tour along the WoodyWalk
A giant slide, a climbing tree, and a Kneipp trail: the
WoodyWalk on Mt Plose is a child’s dream come true. The adventure trail starts at the top station of the PLOSE cable car and follows a 5.6-kilometre route past interactive stations all the way to the Rossalm mountain hut. You’ll come across plenty of highlights along the way: do you dare walk past the giant anaconda? And have you spotted the
Viking ship in the distance yet? Once you reach the end, the adventure is far from over. Nestled in a stunning mountain landscape with
panoramic views of the Dolomites, you’ll find a large playground and a water play area.
